Description
Downtown Providence has a wonderful free summer community arts event known as WaterFire. Created by award-winning sculpture, Barnaby Evans, there are over 80 sparkling wood-burning caldrons installed on the three rivers of downtown Providence. It is an amazing experience for all your senses . . . the fragrant scent of aromatic wood smoke, the flickering firelight on the arched bridges, the silhouettes of the firetenders passing by the flames, the torch-lit vessels traveling down the river, and the enchanting music from around the world engage all the senses and emotions of those who stroll the paths of Waterplace Park and Riverwalk.
Waterplace Park and Riverwalk lend a feel of Venice to Rhode Island's capital city with its cobblestone walkways, plazas, pedestrian bridges, gondolas and other features intertwined with the three rivers running through Providence.
