Description
Love getting in the car and taking a scenic mountain drive. Living in the Colorado Rocky Mountains, there is no shortage of that. So yesterday began the journey by heading down towards South Park/Fairplay with plans to take the unpaved Boreas Pass Road into Breckenridge. First stop was Como, an old historic railroad settlement. It is believed the town was named by miners from Como, Italy, who worked the coal fields of the area. The little town is surrounded by dramatic mountain peaks and has many historic weathered structures. It has the air of a ghost town yet it is populated, by twenty people. It has a small commercial district consisting of a post office, gallery, hotel, and general store. I'm not sure if anyone lives in this house or not . . . and if so, I hope they didn't mind me setting up my tripod in the middle of the dirt road and taking pictures!
