Description
There is a street in Denver ~ Colfax Avenue ~ that is the longest continuous commercial street in the United States. It's also said to be the "Gateway to the Rockies" as it takes you from the plains to the mountains.
A story around town claims that the actress, Sue Lyon, best-known for her role in the 1962 movie "Lolita," was living in this motel, formerly known as the Bugs Bunny Motel. During an argument inside the motel, the actress threatened to throw herself out of a window. Not much of a threat, given that it is a one-story building. Due to copyright issues, the Bugs Bunny Motel was changed to the Big Bunny Motel in the 1990s.
I love this classic 1950s vintage motel sign. This motel is one of many that line Colfax Avenue from an era of long ago.
